1:35 WWII Dt. schwer.Kampfpanzer Elefant

Art.Nr.: 300035325 Art.bezeichnung: 1:35 Dt. Jagdpanzer Elefant This is a 1/35 scale assembly model of the German Heavy Tank Destroyer Elephant. Extensive research was conducted by Tamiya's designers to bring the modeling world the most accurate rendition to date. Historical background In 1941, Porsche created a prototype tank which incorporated radical features including a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain. In 1943, the tank was transformed into the Ferdinand tank destroyer armed with an 8.8cm PaK 43 L/71 gun housed in a large box-shaped superstructure and 90 units were produced. During the Battle of Kursk, they demonstrated superior anti-armor capability to knock out T-34 and KV-1 tanks at long range, but their slow speed and unreliability resulted in many being immobilized by mechanical troubles. In 1944, 50 surviving Ferdinands were given modifications, including the addition of a machine gun, a commander's cupola, and were re-designated with the name Elefant. The Elefant saw combat on the Italian and Russian fronts, and some fought until the very end of WWII during the Battle of Berlin.

1:35 WWII Dt. SdKfz.171 Panther A (2)

Art.Nr.: 300035065 Artikelbezeichnung: 1/35 WWII Dt. SdKfz.171 Panther A (2) In the beginning of 1942, in order to fight against the T-34, the German military ordered a new tank from Dymler-Benz and M.A.N. companies with the following specifications: Weight- 35 tons; speed- 60 km/h; armament 75mm long gun and armour, 60mm thick in front hull, 35mm thick in the rear and 100 mm at the front of the gun turret. Lastly, it was specified that the tank be equipped with a Maiback HL210, water-cooled, V-type 12 cylinder engine. In May of the same year, M.A.N.'s model was chosen without waiting for completion of a prototype tank. However, there were 2 important modifications. First, in order to meet the military's demand, considerably more than the original 35 ton weight was needed. Second, the military ordered a change in the thickness of the frontal armour from 60mm to 80mm. Because of these changes, the engine type had to be chanded from HL210 to HL230. Then, in order to accommodate this engine, a much better gear was needed, but mass production began without this last change, which resulted in frequent gear malfunctions and related trouble. This became the Panther's greatest defect. In the same year, Dymler-Benz and Henschel were ordered to produce the Panther. Therefore, production was greatly increased and a total of 6283 Panther Tanks were produced, second only to P2KW-4 in number. The first mass produced Panther type D was not equipped with a machine gun but after the experience of close battle. A 7.92mm MG 34 was added to the Panther's right front hull armament beginning with its type A. The special feature of the Panther was the left and right driving mechanism. This created an interchangeability of movements, using the torsion bar system. By 1944, the Panther was further improved from Type A to Type G with a change in its side shape. The Panther continued its activities against the Allied Forces throughout the latter half of the war. One of the famed battles it waged du

One of these heavy armored cars was the Sk.Kfz.232, which was equipped with a long distance wireless radio with a large antenna protruding from the top of the upper hull. In the turret was a 2cm gun and a MG34 machine gun. The 8- wheeled, Sk.Kfz.232 had an on-road top speed of 90km/h, front and rear driving positions, and a superb 8 wheel drive system. Art.Nr.: 300035321 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:35 WWII Dt. Simca S5 Dienstwagen (1) The Simca 5 was a small passenger car which debuted in March 1936. It was almost identical to the Fiat 500 Topolino as the car was actually designed by Fiat. The car was equipped with an independent front suspension, a 4-speed transmission, hydraulically-controlled drum brakes, and a 12-volt electrical system. At the time, the car was meant to be affordable for the French public, in the same way that the later Volkswagen Beetle and Fiat 500 brought inexpensive private motoring to the masses in Germany and Italy respectively. It was also very fuel efficient. Many were in use by the time WWII began, and the German Army captured large numbers of them when they occupied France. These were pressed into military service as staff cars for transporting personnel and liaison duties. Over 46,000 Simca 5s were built by the time production ended in 1946. About the Item • 1/35 scale assembly kit model of the Simca 5 staff car. • The elegant silhouette of the car has been accurately reproduced. • Details such as front & rear suspension have been realistically depicted. • Doors can be depicted in either open or closed position. • Comes with a German Army driver figure as well as 3 marking options.

The Austrian-made, 1.5ton, all wheel drive, Steyr 1500A/01 was an 8 passenger vehicle used in a variety of roles such as staff car, HQ transport, artillery tow truck and ambulance. The vehicle was equipped with a front torsion bar, lead spring rear suspension, four speed transmission, air-cooled 8-cylinder 85hp engine, and had a top speed of 100km/h. 1:35 WWII PzKpfw. II Ausf.F/G (5) SK.121

Art.Nr.: 300035009 Artikelbezeichnung: 1/35 WWII PzKpfw. II Ausf.F/G (5) SK.121 In the morning of September 1, 1939, the German forces consisting of the 3rd, 4th, 8th, 10th and the 14th Armies invaded Poland all heading for Warsaw, its capital. This was the beginning of the 2nd World War that had shaken the whole world for six years and the Germans made a good show of their war efforts at the start with this violent surprise offensive by massed air forces and mechanized ground forces in close co-ordination, the so-called "Blitzkrieg". It was none other than the Pzkpfw 11 that had played the key role in this Blitzkrieg which started with the invasion of Poland to be followed by break-through of the Maginot-line 7 months later and ended with the surrender of France. In anticipation of the delay in production of the two main strength tanks of the Pzkpfw III and the Pzkpfw IV then under development, the Ordnance Department decided in 1934 to develop a new tank instead to fill the gap. It gave specifications of the proposed new tank to the following three companies - the Mann, the Krupp and the Henschel. The specifications envisioned a tank weighing less than 10 tons and armed with 2 cm and 7.92 mm machine guns, one each. Among the designs of the rivaling three companies presented, the one by the Mann was selected and the Mann in cooperation with the Daimler-Benz developed a first tank of the a1 type in 1935. When 25 tanks of the same type were produced, the tank was officially named, "Panzer Kampfwagen II". After the first 25, another 25 tanks of the a2 type and 50 of the a3 type were produced in succession by 1936. Tanks of these 3 types thus produced were equipped each with a 6-cylinder, 130HP, May-Bach HL37 engine and credited with a maximum speed of 40km/h. However, it was decried that the horse-power was not enough and the engine was replaced with a May-Bach HL-62 one of 140 HP. The frontal armour, too, was reinforced and a new tank of the b type was produced. In 1937, the Pzkpfw II was further im

Art.Nr.: 300035303 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:35 WWII Rus. Sw.KPz JSU-152 (2) The Russian army utilized the JS-2 heavy tank chassis to create the JSU-152 t, which opposed German tanks such as the Tiger I. The heavy self-propelled gun first entered into battle at Kursk in 1943. The JSU-152 featured improved armor protection and a simple superstructure, in which the ML-20S 152mm Howitzer resided. The Howitzer could fire the same ammunition as other guns. From up to 700m away, the Howitzer could provide direct fire and from up to 15km away the vehicle could provide indirect fire. The heavy shells could penetrate 120mm armor at a distance of 1km and destroy concrete walls up to 300m thick. In September 1943, mass production began on the JSU-152. In the summer of 1944, the JSU-152 entered its first official battle during Operation Bagration. The JSU-152 earned the nickname "Zveroboy (beast killer)" due to the vehicles ability to destroy Tiger I and Panther tanks. The JSU-152 also greatly contributed to the Russian victory at the Battle of Berlin. Over 4,075 JSU-152 were built during WWII and over 5,000 were produced after WWII and posed a threat to the West until the 1970s.

1:35 WWII Sdkfz.251/1 Halbk. Hanomag (5)

Art.Nr.: 300035020 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:35 WWII Sdkfz.251/1 Halbk. Hanomag (5) In 1938, the German Army decided to develop an armoured personnel carrier on the basis of the 3-ton half track (HL-KL-9p). Hanomag Hannoversch Machinenbau (AG) in Hannover was ordered to develop the running gear and Bussing-NAG in Berlin was to develop the superstructure to be armoured. Design work was hastened on the model of existing armoured cars and a prototype was completed at the end of 1938. The Germans tested the prototype in the Kumahsdorf Proving Ground and accepted it for mass production. Thus was born the Armoured Personnel Carrier Hanomag Sdkfz 251/1 which, we may safely say, was a synonym for the German mechanized corps that showed activity in all battlefields throughout the war.

1:35 WWII US Panzer T26E4 Super Pershing

Art.Nr.: 300035319 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:35 WWII US Panzer T26E4 Super Pershing About the M26 Pershing Development of what would become the M26 Pershing began in 1942. It was to be a replacement for the M4 Sherman, which was the standard U.S. Army tank at the time, and features such as a lower profile hull and cast turret were incorporated during the development process of the various prototypes. This eventually culminated in the T26E1 prototype armed with the 90mm M3 gun, and from that stemmed the production version which was called the T26E3. The first T26E3s were sent to Europe in January 1944, and as they were deployed to the battlefield, they were re-designated M26. Although over 300 reached the theater before the end of the war, only 20 actually saw combat. In these limited actions, the M26s proved capable of defeating the German Panther and Tiger tanks they were designed to counter. About the T26E4 "Super Pershing" Although the standard M26 Pershing's 90mm M3 gun was powerful, it was not on par with the German King Tiger heavy tank's gun. Thus the T15E1 90mm gun, which was larger in caliber and fired a one-piece shell at a higher muzzle velocity, was developed. This gun was fitted onto a modified T26E1 prototype, and featured cylindrical stabilizers mounted on the turret to cope with the longer length of the gun barrel. This was the first "Super Pershing" and it was sent to Europe as well, where it was involved in just a handful of engagements against German tanks. The second "Super Pershing" was created by modifying a T26E3. This was designated T26E4 and was armed with a T15E2 90mm gun that fired a two-piece ammunition and a redesigned gun mount to eliminate the need for the stabilizers. This pre-production T26E4 "Super Pershing" was not sent to Europe. The modifications that were tested on this pre-production T26E4 were incorporated into the actual production-spec T26E4s, of which 25 were built before production was canceled

1:350 WWII Jap. Schwerer Kreuzer Chikuma

Art.Nr.: 300078027 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:350 WWII Jap. Schwerer Kreuzer Chikuma This is a highly detailed scale model replica in 1/350 scale of the Japanese Heavy Cruiser Chikuma. Historical background Chikuma was the last heavy cruiser the Imperial Japanese Navy constructed during WWII and was completed in May 1939 as the second ship of the Tone-class. Her four twin 20.3cm guns were located at the bow to enable unhindered operation of up to 6 floatplanes at the stern. Her design also enabled a top speed of 35 knots and a long range. She was assigned to the Carrier Mobile Fleet with her sister ship Tone. During the Pearl Harbor Attack in December 1941, her floatplanes carried out pre-attack reconnaissance over the Pearl Harbor, which greatly contributed to the IJN's success of the operation. She was also active during the Battle of Midway and the Solomon Islands campaign. During the Battle of the Leyte Gulf in October 1944, she was the flagship of Admiral Kurita's fleet and contributed to the sinking of the USS Gambier Bay but she was in turn damaged by torpedoes and scuttled off the coast of Samar Island.   Achtung! 1:48 BRISTOL BEAUFIGHTER MK.6

Art.Nr.: 300061053 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:48 BRISTOL BEAUFIGHTER MK.6 About the Bristol Beaufighter Mk.VI Bristrol's "Beaufighter" was one of the most successful and widely used twin engines fighter types during WW2. The first series production Beaufighter MK.1 entered service in September 1940. With its four nose-mounted 20mm cannons and six 7.7mm machine guns in the wings, this stub-nosed fighter became the most heavily armed aircraft in service with the RAF during the war. As the German Luftwaffe eventually turned to night bombing in autumn of 1940, priority was put on night fighters and the first operational Beaufighters were fitted with the Airborne Interception (AI) radar, which designated the Mk.1F (F was suffix for Fighter Command). Meanwhile, its rugged construction was thought ideal for long range fighting and escort duties, and the Mk.1C under the Coastal Command became ready for initial operations in late March 1941. Introduction of the more powerful, 1,670hp Hercules VI engines by late 1941 resulted in the Mk.VI. A 7.7mm machine gun being added in the observers canopy for rearward defense, and the horizontal tail plane was modified to have a 12 degree of dihedral, to eliminate the unstable characteristics observed on the preceding types. The Beaufighters saw active service not only above Europe but also in the Mediterranean, North Africa, Middle East and Pacific area. More than 5,900 Beaufighters of various types were produced.   Achtung! Nicht für Kinder unter 14 Jahren geeignet.

Art.Nr.: 300032594 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:48 Brit.Pz. Churchill Mk.VII Crocodile This is a 1/48 scale plastic assembly kit model of the British Tank Churchill Mk.VII Crocodile. The Churchill design was the result of a chastening experience for British forces in early WWII, a more modern design that could be produced quickly to make up for armor shortfalls after the Dunkirk evacuations. The Mk.VII variant was up-gunned with a 75mm gun and had improved armor up to 152mm thick! The Crocodile is one of the most notable "special" variants of the Churchill. It had an 80-plus meter range flamethrower in place of the front machine gun, towing its fuel and compressed nitrogen propellant in a trailer behind.

1:48 Douglas A-1J Skyrider USAF

Art.Nr.: 300061073 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:48 Douglas A-1J Skyrider USAF About the Douglas A-1J Skyraider U.S. Air Force Also going by the names Dauntless II, AD, A-1 Able Dog, and Spad, the Douglas Skyraider saw almost 30 years of service. The Skyraider's development started in June 1944. Not completed in time for WWII, its first combat came with the outbreak of the Korean War in June 1950. The first production version to roll out of the Douglas factory was designated the AD-1. Twelve years and seven versions later, over 3200 Skyraiders had been produced. Among those, the AD-6 version, also known as "Able Dog Six", was produced in the greatest numbers. The next and final version of the Skyraider, the AD-7, was extremely identical to the AD-6, but it had reinforced wing spars and wing fittings, as well as the strongest landing gear of all the variants. The AD-7 housed the new wright R-3350-26WB engine, which enabled a top speed of 285 knots. Due to a directive to standardize the designation of Navy and Air Force aircraft, AD-6 and AD-7 became known as A-1H and A-1J respectively. In 1965, when U.S. air operations in Vietnam became more aggressive, literally hundreds of Skyraiders, including the A-1J, were deployed to the 14th and 56th Special Operations Wings (SOW). Armed with Mk.82 and Mk.117 bombs, 20mm wing-mounted cannons, and rocket launchers, the Skyraiders were used in a wide variety of combat missions.

1:48 Dt. Sturmtiger 38cm

Art.Nr.: 300032591 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:48 Dt. Sturmtiger 38cm The Tamiya 1/35 Military Miniatures Sturmtiger is a classic kit that has been around for decades. The 1/48 scale version has received all new tooling and further extends the long line-up of kits offered in this smaller scale! The Sturmtiger was a seldom-seen variant of the Tiger I, using existing chassis and suspension to mount a mammoth 38cm caliber mortar for use against buildings and other fortifications in urban warfare. Only an estimated 18 were ever produced, between August and December 1944, and they were somewhat unwieldy in that they weighed around 65 tons. Nonetheless, they would still have proved a frightening foe to those who encountered them in the Battle of the Bulge, the Warsaw Uprising and the invasion of the German homeland.

1:48 Dt.Focke Wulf Fw190 D-9

Art.Nr.: 300061041 Art.bezeichnung: 1:48 Dt.Focke Wulf Fw190 D-9 About the Focke-Wulf Fw190 D-9 Following the successful entry of the Focke-Wulf Fw190A series of fighter aircraft over the English channel during the autumn of 1941, the German RLM requested high altitude version to complement the fighter fleet, and three projects were started. The Fw 190B used the B.M.W. 801 turbosupercharged radial engine and a pressurized cockpit, but very few of these were built. The Fw190C was powered by a 1,750hp Daimler Benz DB603A in-line engine, of which three prototypes were built. The third high altitude project was based on the Focke Wulf Fw190A airframe and powered by a Junkers engine. The fuselage was lengthened to accommodate the V-12 cylinder, liquid cooled, 1,750hp Jumo 213 engine, and made its initial flight during the winter of 1941 - 42. Five further prototypes were produced, plus small batch of Fw 190 D-Os were completed from standard production Fw 190A-7 airframes. These pre-production aircraft were followed by the Fw190 D-2 through D-8 designations. The Fw 190D-9 began production in June 1944, with early versions having the flat topped canopy, and from W. Nr. 210002 onwards having the Galland hood (blown canopy). It went into combat with the III/JG 54 "Grunherz" (Green Hearts) in September 1944, at Achmer, Germany, as top cover for the new Messerschmitt Me262 Jet fighters then entering service.   Achtung! 1:48 Fairchild Republic A-10A Thunder.II

Art.Nr.: 300061028 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:48 Fairchild Republic A-10A Thunder.II About the Fairchild Republic A-10A "Thunderbolt II" The need for close air support, on small pin point targets, was recognized early during the Vietnam conflict. Following an experimental development program begun in the early 1970's, the Fairchild Republic Industries A-10 Thunderbolt II was selected for production. The performance characteristics demanded were for operation on unimproved short fields, both high and low airspeed maneuverability, easy maintenance, long loiter times and range, excellent pilot protection, and a capacity for large mixed weapons loads. The appearance of the A-10 is remarkable while its performance is amazing. Known affectionately as the "Wart Hog" by its pilots, it's a large single seat aircraft, identified by a pair of TF-34-100A high bypass fan jet engines mounted high near the rear of the twin tailed fuselage. A few of the specifications are: Length 53' 4"; height 14'8", span 57'6"; maximum gross weight 47,400lbs, including 16,000lbs of external stores. Internal armament is the GAU-8/A 30mm Gatling cannon capable of 2100 or 4200 rounds per minute. It carries 1350 rounds of ammunition, a fire control head-up display, CRT TV monitor, laser spot seeker plus a diversified armament panel that can facilitate any operational need. The A-10 has been around since 1972, and has again proven its worth during the recent Gulf war.   Achtung! Nicht für Kinder unter 14 Jahren geeignet.

1:48 Jagdpanzer Elefant

Art.Nr.: 300032589 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:48 Jagdpanzer Elefant This is a 1/48 scale assembly model of the German Heavy Tank Destroyer Elephant. The newly tooled 1/48 Elefant has extensive detail, even at this smaller scale, thanks to the extensive research conducted by Tamiya's designers to make the 1/35 scale rendition. The development of the full-size Elefant is an interesting case study in weapons development. Its chassis was developed by Porsche in the design competition for the Tiger I, but while Porsche was sure enough of its success to ready 100 examples of the chassis before the end of the competition, the design was not chosen. The "left over" chassis were turned into the Elefant on the orders of Hitler in 1942 - some 90 examples were built by May 1943. With armor plates, up to 200mm thick and a powerful long-caliber 8.8cm gun, it was a formidable piece of equipment, and served German troops until the end of WWII.

1:48 Jap. A6 M5C Type 52 Zero Fighter

Art.Nr.: 300061027 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:48 Jap. A6 M5C Type 52 Zero Fighter About the A6M5c Type 52 Zero Fighter In April 1939, shortly after the first Japanese Zero began test trials, modification drawings were already taking place on the zero in the Mitsubishi design room, to keep pace with the anticipated long air war in the Pacific. After the initial superiority of the Zero over allied aircraft began to wane, due to new U.S. types being introduced, Mitsubishi was hard pressed to maintain a superiority. The introduction of the Grumman F6F and Chance Vought F4U, provided a need for more firepower, armor protection and capability led the combined companies of Nakajima and Mitsubishi to produce the A6M5 series of aircraft. Total production of the Type 52 series consisted of 10,449 aircraft of which Nakajima produced 6,570. It first entered combat in August 1943 at a time when the Japanese forces were withdrawing from previously held islands in the South Pacific. The type 52c was the last of the A6M5 series, and the most effective against Allied aircraft due to its armament configuration three of 13mm machine guns and two 20mm cannons. A total of 93 Type 52 and 52b zeros were field modified to "c" weapons configuration. The 7.7mm machine guns, housed in the cowling of the Zero since its first introduction, proved to be less effective during the latter stages of the conflict, due to the heavier armor protection of allied aircraft, and their self sealing fuel tanks. The 13mm weapon was greatly more effective; however, due to its increased weight, only one of them could be housed in the cowling and one in each wing. The 7.7 machine guns were removed from the cowling and one 13mm gun was mounted on the right hand side. This installation also made necessary the enlarging of the right hand projectile exit and cowling tube input, of the cowling, giving it an unbalanced look when viewed from the top. Code named "Zeke" by the Allies, the Type 52c was powered by a 14 cylinder twin row NK1F Sakae 21   Achtung! Nicht für Kinder unter 14 Jahren geeignet.

1:48 Jap. Ki-61-Id Hien (Tony) Flzg.

Art.Nr.: 300061115 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:48 Jap. Ki-61-Id Hien (Tony) Flugzeug The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien was a WWII Japanese fighter powered by the Ha-40 engine - a license-produced version of a Daimler-Benz power plant. On account of its liquid cooled engine (it was the only Japanese fighter in the Pacific fighting to have one), the Hien was apparently mistaken for a German aircraft and then for an Italian bird, and was given the reporting nickname "Tony." It saw combat action from early 1943 and proved a competitive aircraft with its top speed of 580km/h, used in the desperate Japanese defense of the Solomon Islands and even as an interceptor when U.S. B-29s got in range to bomb the Japanese home islands toward the end of WWII.   Achtung!
