1:35 Sov. KV-1B 1940 Heavy MBT (1)

Article number: 300035142 Product: 1:35 Sov. KV-1B 1940 Heavy MBT (1) Along with the T-34, the KV series of heavy tanks played a vital role for Soviet forces in WWII. This precision plastic model recreates the KV-1B variant, which was up-armored compared to the original KV-1, on account of fears about improved German weaponry. The bolt-fastened 25-35mm applique armor gave total armor thicknesses of 120mm on the turret front, 110mm on the turret sides and hull front, and 75-110mm on the hull sides. In combination with the imposing 76.2mm main gun and a 550hp diesel engine, this made the KV-1B (manufactured from July 1941) a daunting proposition for enemy units.   • 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length: 194mm, width: 96mm. • The form of the up-armored turret and hull is captured exquisitely, with the numerous bolts depicted accurately. • Model can be assembled with commander's hatch in open or closed position. • The main gun offers elevation and depression. • Steel road wheels are authentically rendered in plastic. • 3 markings options are included; with various Russian language slogans and markings: • Marking Option 1: Aug. 1941, Leningrad (suburb of Luga); Option 2: Summer, 1941; Option 3: Sept. 1941. • Comes with 1 standing crewman figure.

1:35 Soviet Tank SU-122

Article number: 300035093 Product: 1:35 Soviet Tank SU-122 The Russian T34 tank is known as a masterpiece. Based on the same chassis, the SU-122 featured a secured, wedge-shape fighting compartment, and was armed with a massive 122mm howitzer. The designation of SU-122 comes from the following; "SU" stands for Samokhodnaya Ustanovka (in Russian) meaning self-propelled and "122" stands for the armament. As Russian forces were forced to retreat from the relentless German blitzkrieg, large quantities of T34 and other tanks were produced in preparation of a counter attack. At the same time, Russian army urgently developed a new self-propelled gun, the SU-122. This tank featured a newly designed 122mm self-propelled howitzer and its production began in October 1942 at Tankograd in the Ural mountains. As the T34's chassis and its mass production system were applied to SU-122, the first test models were amazingly completed with great speed taking approximately one month. From there, the first lot of SU-122s were sent straight to the Leningrad front in January 1943. From July 1943, they saw action in the Battle of Kursk. The SU-122 with its 23 caliber 122mm howitzer fought with all its might against Panther and Tiger tanks and went on to superbly win a glorious victory. In following the success at Kursk, the SU-122 set the foundation on where other tanks such as the SU-85, SU-100, JSU-122, and JSU-152 were built upon. Modelers will enjoy recreating the powerful form of the SU-122 including its wedge-shaped form, 122mm howitzer, large gun base, and recoil tow-cover which now comes as a 1/35 scale model. This model was first released in 1977.   • 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit. It was fitted with smooth horizontal volute spring suspension (HVSS). Over 400 were produced before the end of WWII; although they never fought in the conflict, one example of their T83 prototype did. 1/35 Archer

Article number: 300035356 Product: 1/35 Archer This model assembly kit recreates the British Army’s Archer. As WWII progressed, British troops found that their 2-pounder and 6-pounder guns were being rendered obsolete by German armor, and planners decided to develop a vehicle using the powerful 17-pounder (76.2mm) gun. The vehicle chosen to mount the gun on was the Valentine; the turret was removed and replaced with a fighting compartment – this would be known as the Archer. Interestingly, as there was little time to re-organize the cramped layout, the 17-pounder had to be mounted pointing rearwards to fit it in. As a result, the Archer moved and fired in opposite directions. However, it offered strong performance and served with British and Commonwealth units from October 1944 till the end of WWII. The British continued using it until the early 1950s.

The late production variant of the tank had a rounded turret design with the cupola removed. Article number: 300035363 Product: 1:35 US M3A1 Scout car/Spähwagen This is a scale model replica of the M3A1 Scout Car. It promises to be a great stand-alone model or make for an essential diorama piece in a bigger modeling project. Around 21,000 of the actual car were built, a vital cog in the setup of U.S. forces and those Allies (Britain, Soviet Union, Free France, China and more) who received it under "lend-lease." Lightly protected with mainly 6.4mm armor, with a top road speed of 80km/h, it had one 12.7mm and two 7.62mm machine guns, could seat six in addition to a driver and commander, and was often deployed in recon and command car roles, in North Africa, Sicily, and on the Eastern Front.

1/35 Sherman Easy8 EuroTheater

Article number: 300035346 Product: 1/35 Sherman Easy8 EuroTheater This is an all-new kit designed by Tamiya's top designers which recreates the "Easy Eight" variant of the legendary Sherman medium tank. The M4A3E8 was known fondly as the "Easy Eight" by its crews, thanks to the relatively smooth drive afforded by its Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension (HVSS). Another distinguishing feature was its 76mm gun. Some of the 2,500 examples produced were in time to appear in the Battle of the Bulge (Dec. 1944-Jan. 1945), and others even served in the Korean War years after the Allied WWII triumph. Movie buffs will no doubt also recall that the "Easy Eight" was the star of the 2014 hit film "Fury." THE TAMIYA-DESIGNED M4A3E8 KEY FEATURES Slide molded turret and upper hull parts give an unbeatable combination of hassle-free assembly and highly realistic detail levels. Cast metal turret and welded hull surface textures are rendered accurately. The rear showcases sharp, detailed molding on engine grilles and exhausts, as well as the numerous accessories depicted by the kit. Clear parts are used to recreate light lens and cupola vision block parts, further upping the realism of this kit. The single-pin T66 tracks are recreated with minimum fuss and great accuracy, by the included belt-type tracks. Drive sprockets feature fine holes. A commander figure in realistic pose is provided for the cupola. The periscope seen on the hatch underside is depicted using separate parts. Technical data: Scale: 1/35 Length: 214 mm Width: 86 mm

Article number: 300035348 Product: 1/35 SU-76M The SU-76M filled an important and particularly pressing Soviet need for an effective self-propelled gun against invading German forces after the start of Operation Barbarossa in WWII. Based upon the T-70 light tank chassis, it was production-friendly and some 11,000 were manufactured between 1943 and 1945. Its 76.2mm ZiS-3 gun helped it to play a valuable part offering supporting fire and as an anti-tank weapon. Superior mobility was its calling card, and the SU-76M was also able to operate in close unison with infantry units.

1/35 US M10 Mid Production

Article number: 300035350 Product: 1/35 US M10 Mid Production This is a model of the famed M10 Tank Destroyer, a subject also covered in the 1/48 scale Military Miniature series. This largely newly-tooled model (only machine gun and clear parts are taken over from existing models) gives it the glorious detail of the larger 1/35 scale. The astonishing success of German armor tactics in 1940 prompted U.S. forces to adopt a doctrine requiring dedicated new tank destroyers to counter them. After going down a few different design routes at the start of the process, they eventually hit upon the highly successful M10 design with well-sloped (if rather thin, to keep the vehicle light and maneuverable) armor plate, and the highly capable 3-inch (76.2mm) gun. Over 4,900 were produced, and took part in Operation Torch (the invasion of N. Africa), as well as fighting in Italy and the advance upon Germany that would bring the exhausting conflict to a close. About the model 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length: 196mm, width: 88mm. Intensive study and measurement of the M10 in the tank museum at Saumur led to this highly detailed depiction of its form complete with sloped armor, right down to auxiliary armor bosses. The open top on the distinctive turret allows viewing of the 3-inch gun breech and realistic interior. Compare and contrast depictions of surface textures such as the cast mantlet and differential cover versus the welded armor plate of the turret sides and upper hull. Belt-type parts recreate T51 tracks. Driver's hatch can be attached in open or closed position, and features periscope depiction. Comes with 3 figures (commander, loader, gunner) in realistic pose, plus 2 marking options for recreating M10s belonging to the 601st and 634th U.S. Tank Destroyer Battalions

1/35 Valentine Mk.II/IV

Article number: 300035352 Product: 1:35 Brit. Valentine Mk. II/IV This is an all new tooled model of the British Valentine Infantry tank in 1/35 scale. British armor doctrine in the 1930s up to the outbreak of WWII called for 2 types of tank - more mobile cruiser tanks and heavy, slow infantry tanks. The Valentine was a prolifically produced example of the latter (7,315 units, more than 30% of British tank production in WWII). It was based upon existing cruiser tank designs and relatively easy to manufacture, a critical point for the British military after it had lost so much material during the Dunkirk evacuation in 1940. The Valentine would see extensive action in North Africa, particularly the Mk.II and Mk.IV variants (they had different engines) depicted by this kit. Over 4,500 were also handed over to the Soviet Union under the lend-lease agreement, the Red Army using them mainly for recon work.

1/35 Wespe Italian Front

Article number: 300035358 Product: 1:35 Panzerhaubitz Wespe Italien. Front This model faithfully recreates the German Self-Propelled Howitzer Wespe. It is a classic model from within the Tamiya catalogue, but this version includes updated parts and new marking options for vehicles that fought on the Italian front. Originally designed as a stopgap, with a production run of 676, this Pz.Kpfw.II chassis-based howitzer exceeded German expectations. Intended mainly for infantry support, the Pz.Kpfw.II’s moving turret was replaced with a boxy stationary superstructure equipped with the Type 18/2 10.5cm L/28 howitzer. While the crew of 5 were not blessed with overwhelming protection, their vehicle was a mobile threat to Allied forces nonetheless.

It compliments Tamiya’s other variants such as the E-3 and E-4/7 Trop. The Bf 109 is a legendary name in aviation, an aircraft which combined longevity and versatility in the hands of the Luftwaffe and other air forces. The G-6 was the most prolifically produced Bf 109, accounting for more than a third of the total. Introduced in early 1943, it could be fitted with underwing 20mm cannons in pods, or synchronized 13mm machine guns in distinctive bulges ahead of the cockpit, and was powered by the Daimler-Benz DB605A liquid-cooled V12, which gave a top airspeed of 640km/h.

Article number: 300032594 Product: 1:48 Brit.Pz. Churchill Mk.VII Crocodile This is a 1/48 scale plastic assembly kit model of the British Tank Churchill Mk.VII Crocodile. The Churchill design was the result of a chastening experience for British forces in early WWII, a more modern design that could be produced quickly to make up for armor shortfalls after the Dunkirk evacuations. The Mk.VII variant was up-gunned with a 75mm gun and had improved armor up to 152mm thick! The Crocodile is one of the most notable "special" variants of the Churchill. It had an 80-plus meter range flamethrower in place of the front machine gun, towing its fuel and compressed nitrogen propellant in a trailer behind.

1/48 Elefant

Article number: 300032589 Product: 1:48 Jagdpanzer Elefant This is a 1/48 scale assembly model of the German Heavy Tank Destroyer Elephant. The newly tooled 1/48 Elefant has extensive detail, even at this smaller scale, thanks to the extensive research conducted by Tamiya's designers to make the 1/35 scale rendition. The development of the full-size Elefant is an interesting case study in weapons development. Its chassis was developed by Porsche in the design competition for the Tiger I, but while Porsche was sure enough of its success to ready 100 examples of the chassis before the end of the competition, the design was not chosen. The "left over" chassis were turned into the Elefant on the orders of Hitler in 1942 - some 90 examples were built by May 1943. With armor plates, up to 200mm thick and a powerful long-caliber 8.8cm gun, it was a formidable piece of equipment, and served German troops until the end of WWII.

Article number: 300061115 Product: 1:48 Jap. Ki-61-Id Hien (Tony) Flugzeug The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien was a WWII Japanese fighter powered by the Ha-40 engine - a license-produced version of a Daimler-Benz power plant. On account of its liquid cooled engine (it was the only Japanese fighter in the Pacific fighting to have one), the Hien was apparently mistaken for a German aircraft and then for an Italian bird, and was given the reporting nickname "Tony." It saw combat action from early 1943 and proved a competitive aircraft with its top speed of 580km/h, used in the desperate Japanese defense of the Solomon Islands and even as an interceptor when U.S. B-29s got in range to bomb the Japanese home islands toward the end of WWII.

1:12 Honda VFR 750R 1987

Article number: 300014057 Product 1:12 Honda VFR 750R 1987 About the Honda VFR750R Honda's release of their limited production, road-going, "works racer" VFR750R made headlines in the motorcycle scene in 1987. The VFR750R is a street-legal counterpart of the formidable RVF750 endurance racer which displayed remarkable potential in the world endurance championships. This bike follows the concept seen in the RVF750, including the use of space-age technology and components such as titanium, carbon-fiber, kevlar, and magnesium. It betters the earlier bikes by a wide margin. The VFR750R also uses a twin-spar aluminum box frame, Pro-Arm (rear swing arm), and a center-lock hub rear wheel. These superlative features and the RVF's racing reputation have made it a collector's item even before the first unit was off the production line. The 748cc, liquid cooled, V4 cylinder 16 valve engine has been kept compact to keep the VFR's overall dimensions very close to the current 500cc Grand Prix racers, for a minimum frontal area. Further, this motorcycle departs from the typical Japanese mass-production practice by using a great deal of human labor on each unit, such as the FRP cowling and windscreen being laid up by hand. The Honda VFR750R is one potent package and has been designed to be very competitive on racing tracks in stock form, yet remain street legal. It will remain a desirable and elusive high performance bike for years to come.

1:12 Yamaha XV1000 Virago

Article number: 300014044 Product: 1:12 Yamaha XV1000 Virago About the Yamaha XV1000 Virago The motorcycle, along with the automobile, has played a big role in transporting humans from place to place for many years. Man has always been able to adapt his tools for specific needs, and as the motorcycle became more and more a sport, or leisure transportation vehicle, it has been designed for more specific purposes. The off road, touring, motocross and speed bikes as well as the basic transportation motorcycle can be seen in most countries, but America seems to have a certain styling all its own. This so called "Chopper style" came about during the mid 1960's from the many modified Harley's done by members of the many motorcycle clubs around the country. There are many long straight stretches of good, high speed roadways in America, and to sit back comfortably, with feet resting on forward pedals and sitting on a very relaxing saddle, brought about these modifications. The Yamaha Company of Japan is well known for quality bikes around the world, and they have been making bikes for specific areas for years. The Yamaha XS650 Special released in 1978 had the American look, and since then this company has marketed bikes with similar styling. The XV1000 Virago is their latest, large bore, American styled motorcycle and sure to become popular. Its front wheel caster angle of 32 degrees provides an extended wheel base of 1525mm, making its straight running ability superb. The wide, pull back type of handle bars and the forward placed foot rests, allow the rider to sit up as if he was on a horse. A separate looking, loose cushion seat is almost like sitting on a sofa, and it is positioned at a height of only 715mm. The 70hp 981cc twin cylinder is in the "V" format and transmits its power via an enclosed drive shaft for quiet, maintenance free operation. The bike comes with much chrome and lots of gold plating, but it is done in such a manner that the bike does not look gaudy. It is a luxurious and comfortable

1:12 Yamaha YZF-R1 1000ccm 1997 Street

Article number: 300014073 Product: 1:12 Yamaha YZF-R1 1000ccm 1997 Street At the Motorcycle Show held in Milan, Italy, in September of 1997, the Yamaha YZF-R1 supersport motorcycle made its debut. Sporting a powerful 1000cc engine, it has the compact construction of a 400cc bike. The YZF-R1 was developed for maximum possible cornering ability in a production motorcycle. With a 1000cc water-cooled, four stroke, 4-cylinder, 5-valve engine and adopting a redesigned EXUP exhaust system, it pumps out 150hp of high-intensity power. Subtle throttle control makes both superb acceleration response and rhythmic cornering a reality. The Deltabox II aluminum frame was sought after not only for its rigidity, but more so for its moderate flexibility during tight cornering. With the addition of a long span aluminum swing arm, high control ability has been achieved. By adopting an upside-down front fork, stroke distance has been increased and traction heightened. Boasting a sharp form with multi-reflector lights, the YZF-R1 has been given an unprecedented style. From the contact points between the rider and motorcycle, right down to the material used in the seat and tank, the YZF-R1 has been thoroughly studied. Of course, the abundance of high precision and high quality parts goes without saying. Designed to cruise at high speeds on winding roads, the YZF-R1 shatters expectations about large exhaust engine motorcycles. Yamaha has expanded the possibilities of a 1000cc bike.
