1:35 WWII Ger.SdKfz.171 Panther A (2)

Article number: 300035065 Product: 1/35 WWII Dt. SdKfz.171 Panther A (2) In the beginning of 1942, in order to fight against the T-34, the German military ordered a new tank from Dymler-Benz and M.A.N. companies with the following specifications: Weight- 35 tons; speed- 60 km/h; armament 75mm long gun and armour, 60mm thick in front hull, 35mm thick in the rear and 100 mm at the front of the gun turret. Lastly, it was specified that the tank be equipped with a Maiback HL210, water-cooled, V-type 12 cylinder engine. In May of the same year, M.A.N.'s model was chosen without waiting for completion of a prototype tank. However, there were 2 important modifications. First, in order to meet the military's demand, considerably more than the original 35 ton weight was needed. Second, the military ordered a change in the thickness of the frontal armour from 60mm to 80mm. Because of these changes, the engine type had to be chanded from HL210 to HL230. Then, in order to accommodate this engine, a much better gear was needed, but mass production began without this last change, which resulted in frequent gear malfunctions and related trouble. This became the Panther's greatest defect. In the same year, Dymler-Benz and Henschel were ordered to produce the Panther. Therefore, production was greatly increased and a total of 6283 Panther Tanks were produced, second only to P2KW-4 in number. The first mass produced Panther type D was not equipped with a machine gun but after the experience of close battle. A 7.92mm MG 34 was added to the Panther's right front hull armament beginning with its type A. The special feature of the Panther was the left and right driving mechanism. This created an interchangeability of movements, using the torsion bar system. By 1944, the Panther was further improved from Type A to Type G with a change in its side shape. The Panther continued its activities against the Allied Forces th Ger. Panther Med. Tank

1:35 WWII PzKpfw. II Ausf.F/G (5) SK.121

Article number: 300035009 Product: 1/35 WWII PzKpfw. II Ausf.F/G (5) SK.121 In the morning of September 1, 1939, the German forces consisting of the 3rd, 4th, 8th, 10th and the 14th Armies invaded Poland all heading for Warsaw, its capital. This was the beginning of the 2nd World War that had shaken the whole world for six years and the Germans made a good show of their war efforts at the start with this violent surprise offensive by massed air forces and mechanized ground forces in close co-ordination, the so-called "Blitzkrieg". It was none other than the Pzkpfw 11 that had played the key role in this Blitzkrieg which started with the invasion of Poland to be followed by break-through of the Maginot-line 7 months later and ended with the surrender of France. In anticipation of the delay in production of the two main strength tanks of the Pzkpfw III and the Pzkpfw IV then under development, the Ordnance Department decided in 1934 to develop a new tank instead to fill the gap. It gave specifications of the proposed new tank to the following three companies - the Mann, the Krupp and the Henschel. The specifications envisioned a tank weighing less than 10 tons and armed with 2 cm and 7.92 mm machine guns, one each. Among the designs of the rivaling three companies presented, the one by the Mann was selected and the Mann in cooperation with the Daimler-Benz developed a first tank of the a1 type in 1935. When 25 tanks of the same type were produced, the tank was officially named, "Panzer Kampfwagen II". After the first 25, another 25 tanks of the a2 type and 50 of the a3 type were produced in succession by 1936. Tanks of these 3 types thus produced were equipped each with a 6-cylinder, 130HP, May-Bach HL37 engine and credited with a maximum speed of 40km/h. However, it was decried that the horse-power was not enough and the engine was replaced with a May-Bach HL-62 one of 140 HP. The frontal armour, too, was reinforced and a new tank

1:35 WWII Sdkfz.251/1 Halft. Hanomag (5)

Article number: 300035020 Product: 1/35 WWII Sdkfz.251/1 Halbk. Hanomag (5) In 1938, the German Army decided to develop an armoured personnel carrier on the basis of the 3-ton half track (HL-KL-9p). Hanomag Hannoversch Machinenbau (AG) in Hannover was ordered to develop the running gear and Bussing-NAG in Berlin was to develop the superstructure to be armoured. Design work was hastened on the model of existing armoured cars and a prototype was completed at the end of 1938. The Germans tested the prototype in the Kumahsdorf Proving Ground and accepted it for mass production. Thus was born the Armoured Personnel Carrier Hanomag Sdkfz 251/1 which, we may safely say, was a synonym for the German mechanized corps that showed activity in all battlefields throughout the war.

1:35 WWII US Tank T26E4 Super Pershing

Article number: 300035319 Product: 1:35 WWII US Tank T26E4 Super Pershing About the M26 Pershing Development of what would become the M26 Pershing began in 1942. It was to be a replacement for the M4 Sherman, which was the standard U.S. Army tank at the time, and features such as a lower profile hull and cast turret were incorporated during the development process of the various prototypes. This eventually culminated in the T26E1 prototype armed with the 90mm M3 gun, and from that stemmed the production version which was called the T26E3. The first T26E3s were sent to Europe in January 1944, and as they were deployed to the battlefield, they were re-designated M26. Although over 300 reached the theater before the end of the war, only 20 actually saw combat. In these limited actions, the M26s proved capable of defeating the German Panther and Tiger tanks they were designed to counter. About the T26E4 "Super Pershing" Although the standard M26 Pershing's 90mm M3 gun was powerful, it was not on par with the German King Tiger heavy tank's gun. Thus the T15E1 90mm gun, which was larger in caliber and fired a one-piece shell at a higher muzzle velocity, was developed. This gun was fitted onto a modified T26E1 prototype, and featured cylindrical stabilizers mounted on the turret to cope with the longer length of the gun barrel. This was the first "Super Pershing" and it was sent to Europe as well, where it was involved in just a handful of engagements against German tanks. The second "Super Pershing" was created by modifying a T26E3. This was designated T26E4 and was armed with a T15E2 90mm gun that fired a two-piece ammunition and a redesigned gun mount to eliminate the need for the stabilizers. This pre-production T26E4 "Super Pershing" was not sent to Europe. The modifications that were tested on this pre-production T26E4 were incorporated into the actual production-spec T26E4s, of which 25 were built before production was canceled

1/35 Sherman Easy8 EuroTheater

Article number: 300035346 Product: 1/35 Sherman Easy8 EuroTheater This is an all-new kit designed by Tamiya's top designers which recreates the "Easy Eight" variant of the legendary Sherman medium tank. The M4A3E8 was known fondly as the "Easy Eight" by its crews, thanks to the relatively smooth drive afforded by its Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension (HVSS). Another distinguishing feature was its 76mm gun. Some of the 2,500 examples produced were in time to appear in the Battle of the Bulge (Dec. 1944-Jan. 1945), and others even served in the Korean War years after the Allied WWII triumph. Movie buffs will no doubt also recall that the "Easy Eight" was the star of the 2014 hit film "Fury." THE TAMIYA-DESIGNED M4A3E8 KEY FEATURES Slide molded turret and upper hull parts give an unbeatable combination of hassle-free assembly and highly realistic detail levels. Cast metal turret and welded hull surface textures are rendered accurately. The rear showcases sharp, detailed molding on engine grilles and exhausts, as well as the numerous accessories depicted by the kit. Clear parts are used to recreate light lens and cupola vision block parts, further upping the realism of this kit. The single-pin T66 tracks are recreated with minimum fuss and great accuracy, by the included belt-type tracks. Drive sprockets feature fine holes. A commander figure in realistic pose is provided for the cupola. The periscope seen on the hatch underside is depicted using separate parts. Technical data: Scale: 1/35 Length: 214 mm Width: 86 mm

1:35 Ger. SdKfz.9 Famo 18to Halftrack(8)

Article number: 300035239 Product: 1:35 Ger. SdKfz.9 Famo 18to Halftrack(8) Art.Nr.: 300035239 Artikelbezeichnung: 1:35 WWII SdKfz.9 Famo 18to Halbkette(8) About the "Famo" In the wake of Blitzkrieg advances made by the Wehrmacht at the outbreak of WWII, the recovery of damaged or broken tanks from the battlefield proved relatively simple. After securing an area, reinforcing divisions could easily send inoperative vehicles back to the homeland for repair via railway. However, in the seesaw battles with the British Army in North Africa and against the Russian Army on the Russian front, the quick replenishment of tank strength became an indispensable element of Wehrmacht battle strategy. The utilization of the 18 ton Heavy Half-Track "Famo" proved fundamental to this strategy. The proposal for the development of the Wehrmacht half-tracks was first made in 1932. Originally, three half-tracks, designated by their towing capability (5 ton, 8 ton and 12 ton) were designed, until 1936, when a light 3 ton vehicle and a heavy 18 ton vehicle, the largest one in the Wehrmacht, were also added. The 18 ton half track was mainly developed for the towing of 21cm and 24cm artillery howitzer and of course for tank recovery. It could also be used for the transport of over 30 troops. About the Model ★1/35 plastic assembly kit of the largest half-track in the German Army. ★Overall Length: 243mm, Overall Width: 75mm. ★Highly detailed model captures the size and tank-towing power of the FAMO. ★Realistic treads and suspension. ★Synthetic rubber front tires and steerable front wheels for maximum realism. ★Rear gate and storage doors can be assembled in the open or closed position. ★Tank towing drawbar included. ★Can be assembled with or without engine side panels, revealing fully detailed engine. ★Engine can be assembled outside of FAMO. ★Eight figures (four variations) included.   Warning! 1:35 Israeli Tank M1 Super Sherman

Article number: 300035322 Product: 1/35 Israeli Tank M1 Super Sherman Over 50,000 Shermans of all types were produced during WWII. The Shermans which the IDF (Israeli Defense Force) initially procured from various sources were a mix of different variants featuring different hulls, turrets, suspensions, and armaments. However, Israel was eventually able to negotiate the purchase of about 250 M4A1 and M4A3 Shermans from France, and these were armed with the M1A1/A2 76.2mm main gun which could better counter the Arab armies' Russian made T-34-85s. Shermans were also produced with two different types of suspension: VVSS (Vertical Volute Spring Suspension) and HVSS (Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension). The latter offered better performance and the IDF eventually modified their tanks to the HVSS standard. Thus the IDF designated its 76.2mm gun-armed HVSS-equipped Shermans as M1 Super Shermans and many of these saw their first action during the Sinai Campaign in 1956.

1:35 Israeli Tank M51 105mm

Article number: 300035323 Product: 1/35 Israeli Tank M51 105mm During the 1960's, the Israeli Ordnance Corps upgraded their M4A1 Sherman tanks by equipping them with the powerful French 105mm CN-105-F1 tank gun and they were redesignated as M51s. The larger gun meant a muzzle brake was installed to minimize the greater recoil effect and a counterweight was fitted to the rear of the turret. The 460hp diesel engine and the combination of the Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension (HVSS) and wider T80 tracks gave the M51 improved mobility. During the Six-Day War in 1967, the M51s were used against newer T-54/55 tanks as well as JS-3 tanks from Egyptian, Iraqi, and Syrian armies. The M51's 105mm gun could take on these adversaries by using HEAT ammunition. After the war, these M51s continued to serve with distinction until they were finally retired in the early 1980s.

1:35 WWI Brit. Tank Mk. IV Male (mot.)

Article number: 300030057 Product: 1/35 WWI Brit. Tank Mk. IV Male (mot.) Tamiya is delighted to announce its maiden foray into the world of WWI models, in the year which marks the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of hostilities in what was then known as the Great War. The tanks which appeared in the conflict were the first ever seen on the battlefield, and were the forerunners of a whole line of military vehicles which is still being developed further today. The Mk.IV tank was a successor to the Mk.I, which was drawn up by British designers in attempt to break the stalemate of trench warfare experienced on the Western Front; the rhombus-shaped hull was designed to aid in crossing the extensive network of trenches. The Mk.I, first thrown into live action in September 1916 during the Battle of the Somme, had "male" (fitted with 57mm, 6-pound guns) and "female" (fitted only with machine guns) versions. Around 1,000 Mk.IV tanks were manufactured after 1917, and they inherited their shape and male/female weaponry and classifications from the Mk.I, but with significantly upgraded armor. Around 400 were used en masse in the November 1917 Battle of Cambrai to great effect, and with the world cottoning on to the new vehicle’s potential the maiden tank vs. tank battle was not far behind: in 1918, the Mk.IV faced off against its German counterpart the AV7.

The "Schell Programme" was introduced, in 1940, to increase the ease of production of land vehicles for the German Army. The Austrian-made, 1.5ton, all wheel drive, Steyr 1500A/01 was an 8 passenger vehicle used in a variety of roles such as staff car, HQ transport, artillery tow truck and ambulance. The vehicle was equipped with a front torsion bar, lead spring rear suspension, four speed transmission, air-cooled 8-cylinder 85hp engine, and had a top speed of 100km/h. 1:35 WWII Sov. Heavy MBT JSU-152 (2)

Article number: 300035303 Product: 1:35 WWII Sov. Heavy MBT JSU-152 (2) The Russian army utilized the JS-2 heavy tank chassis to create the JSU-152 t, which opposed German tanks such as the Tiger I. The heavy self-propelled gun first entered into battle at Kursk in 1943. The JSU-152 featured improved armor protection and a simple superstructure, in which the ML-20S 152mm Howitzer resided. The Howitzer could fire the same ammunition as other guns. From up to 700m away, the Howitzer could provide direct fire and from up to 15km away the vehicle could provide indirect fire. The heavy shells could penetrate 120mm armor at a distance of 1km and destroy concrete walls up to 300m thick. In September 1943, mass production began on the JSU-152. In the summer of 1944, the JSU-152 entered its first official battle during Operation Bagration. The JSU-152 earned the nickname "Zveroboy (beast killer)" due to the vehicles ability to destroy Tiger I and Panther tanks. The JSU-152 also greatly contributed to the Russian victory at the Battle of Berlin. Over 4,075 JSU-152 were built during WWII and over 5,000 were produced after WWII and posed a threat to the West until the 1970s.
