Article number: 300077514 Product: 1:700 US Enterprise Aircraft Carrier WL The USS Enterprise CV-6 was the second Yorktown-class ship and entered service as the sixth aircraft carrier of the US Navy in 1938. In the Pacific War she was involved in 18 of 22 major naval operations. 15 times she was badly damaged, but the USS Enterprise kept returning to service, symbolizing the Navy's determination to achieve victory in the Pacific. In 1947 the USS Enterprise, affectionately known as the "Big E", was decommissioned and finally scrapped from 1958 to 1960. To this day she is the most decorated ship in the history of the US Navy. The TAMIYA model kit shows the famous aircraft carrier as it looked towards the end of World War II, including increased AA armament and Hellcat, Corsair, Avenger and Helldiver aircraft.

The nine ships of the so-called E-class, Exmouth, Echo, Eclipse, Electra, Encounter, Escapade, Escort, Esk and Express, were completed in 1934 and took part in many important operations during World War II, including the hunt for the Bismarck and the Battle of the Java Sea. The dimensions of the E-Class roughly corresponded to its predecessors. However, the ships had enlarged superstructures and also equipment for anti-submarine defence and a mine detection facility on board. King George V Battleship WL The British battleship King George V entered service in October 1940 as the type ship of the second King George V-class and flagship of the Home Fleet. Among other things, she was involved in the hunt for the German battleship Bismarck in May 1941 together with the HMS Rodney. From 1944 the King George V served in the Pacific. For the surrender of Japan on September 2, 1945, she anchored off Tokyo. In 1949 the HMS King George V was transferred to the reserve fleet, and in 1957 the fleet command finally sent the 35,000-ton battleship into well-deserved retirement. Article number: 300077504 Product: 1:700 Brit. Nelson Battleship WL The HMS Nelson was launched as the type ship of the Nelson class on September 3, 1925, and was put into service in 1927. Like her sister ship, the HMS Rodney, the Nelson had three triple 16-inch towers that were placed in the well-protected front half of the ship. She was temporarily the flagship of the Royal Navy and initially served mostly together with her sister ship. During the Second World War, the Nelson belonged to the Homefleet and was involved in the search for various German warships. From 1941 she supported the Allied landings in North Africa and later the landings in Sicily. When she supported the landing in Normandy in the summer of 1944, she ran into two mines. After her repair, she was deployed in the Pacific, then transferred to the reserve and scrapped in 1949. The TAMIYA kit model impresses with its accuracy of fit and attention to detail.

Shortly after its completion in March 1941, it was involved in the historic hunt for the German battleship Bismarck. In October, the Prince of Wales was dispatched to Singapore to reinforce the armed forces in the Far East. Her short period of service of only 9 months ended dramatically when she was intercepted by Japanese bombers in the so-called Battle of Malaya. Due to various construction failures, three modifications were carried out, the first due to a lack of stability. In the second, the armament was changed from the 15.3 cm triplets to the larger 20.3 cm double gun turrets. The conversion to an aircraft cruiser took place from 1942 to 1943 after a failed submarine escape and a collision with the Mikuma as well as several bomb hits by American carrier aircraft. After further heavy battles against the enemy U.S. fleet, a heavy fire broke out on the ship in the fall of 1944. The remaining crew decided to leave the ship and sink it with torpedoes: The Mogami disappeared into the depths of the Mindanao Sea.

The construction of the giant Yamato-class ship began shortly after the Japanese defeat at Midway and was completed in November 1944. The total length of the Shinano was 266 meters, the carrier had a displacement of 62,000 tons. From the Yamato the Shinano inherited the strong armor as well as a reinforced flight deck that could withstand a direct explosion of a 500 kg bomb. Before its first deployment – on the way to an equipment quay – the vessel was discovered and torpedoed by an American submarine. Shortly afterwards the Shinano capsized near the shores of Shionomisaki. The Shinano is still the largest warship sunk by a submarine.

During the Pacific War, the Shokaku, along with its sister flagship Zuikaku, formed the 5th Aircraft Carrier Division of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The Shokaku was involved in the attack on Pearl Harbor and served until the Battle of the Philippine Sea in 1944; here it was sunk after several torpedo hits by a U.S. submarine. The model is a replica of the Japanese aircraft carrier Shokaku on a scale of 1:700. The decor of the kit also includes the flight deck landing markings and a complete set of aircraft including Mitsubishi A6M2 fighters and Aichi D3A bombers.

She is best known for her central role in the so-called Doolittle Raid on April 18, 1942, the first US air attack on the Japanese home islands. Only a few months later, in October 1942, the Hornet was badly damaged by Japanese bombers in the battle of the Santa Cruz Islands. She finally sunk on October 27th. Most of the crew could be rescued by the American escort ships, but 111 men died. The detailed TAMIYA model kit contains the aircraft carrier as well as parts for 16 B-25 bombers.

The most famous one was and is the BB-63 Missouri. 212,000 horsepower enabled the heavily armed colossus to reach a top speed of 33 knots. The main armament consisted of nine 16 inch (40.6 cm) guns distributed in three triple turrets (2 fore and 1 aft) with a maximum range of up to 40 km. The ships of the Iowa class were 270.4 m long and had a relatively narrow hull of a maximum of 33 m, so they could easily pass the Panama Canal. The USS Missouri entered service in 1944 and participated in numerous operations in the Pacific War. On September 2, 1945, the Treaty of Unconditional Surrender of the Japanese Armed Forces was signed aboard the USS Missouri. With the outbreak of the Korean War in June 1950, the USS Missouri and her sister ships were used for fire support and relegated to reserve service in 1955. In 1986 the ship was completely renovated, modernized and equipped with the latest weapon technology. The Missouri was used one last time in the Gulf War and in 1993, after almost 50 years in service, she took her well-deserved retirement.
